They are described as worn and old. They were once chosen with care and love, and arranged with taste and pride. Now they need covers and to have their weariness disguised.
What do we learn from the description?
Just like the family and the house, the furniture and decorations have greatly changed with time. The furnishing was from another generation and has had to be used for the following generations.
